Catching A Ride
The two pictures below are of the same bus stop taken at approximately the same time a few days a part. This stop, like many others, is fairly busy – that is unless it’s raining. The main difference between the two photos is that one was taken on a nice day and the other was taken while it was raining. It is worth noting that the second photo was taken at considerable risk to my personal safety and well-being. You would think that cars might slow down while driving in the rain as they approach someone standing in the middle of 1st Street. I guess this is too much to expect… but I digress. As you drive around town I’ll wager that you will be able to count the number of bus shelters on one hand. As we move into the winter months and bad weather it sure would be nice to see more shelters around town. The ideal solution, from my point of view, would not include the use of public dollars to accomplish this goal. However, being the pragmatist that I am I would be open to some sort of public/ private partnership on this endeavor. I would really like to hear ideas from you, the readers, on how to address this opportunity. Please email your ideas to me at tony@tonyjeter.com
